Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of School Improvement Officer within Bristol’s Children and Young People’s Service. The Council is fully committed to improving the quality of life for our children and we hope that the information provided within this website will inspire you to join us.

It is an exciting time to be part of the Children & Young People’s Service at Bristol City Council. With an innovative programme of quality improvements already having a strong impact on the performance of children across the city, we are now looking to the future and have ambitious plans to ensure we can continue to deliver the very best provision to our children, young people and families. We are a city moving forward with pace benefitting from significant regeneration. This investment has revolutionised not only the city’s skyline and green spaces, but crucially the education provision we are able to provide, with new primary and secondary schools being built across the city, along with many new children’s centres.

Our team is working exceptionally hard, and together we are moving forward - but we know that we cannot afford to be complacent, as much remains to be done to improve the life chances of all children and young people. We have a clear view of where good and strong progress has been made, and of where effort must be prioritised to quicken the pace of improvement. It is about creating the capacity to achieve more, and this is where you could have an important part to play.

If you are seeking a fresh challenge, where you can really make your mark, raise your profile and create educational improvements for the children in our city, then we want to hear from you.
